After the first weekend of the Finals Series, there are only four Penshurst RSL teams still standing... The Mini teams finsihed off their season at the Mini Day at Riverwood Park on Saturday. No results have been received as yet. In the Mod grades on Saturday...the u10 Greens were well beaten after scoring first - a disappointing end to a terrific season; the u10 Golds nearly pulled off a big upset - a terrific end to a tough season for a new team; the u11 Gold did pull off a major upset, defeating a more fancied opponent to be the first to qualify for the Grand Final; and the u12s recorded a strong victory to advance to next week's Final. On Sunday in the International grades...the u13s ended their season with a positive effort by nearly pulling off a major upset against a much bigger and more fancied opponent; after leading at half-time, the u14s weren't able force their way into the Grand Final, they get a second chance in next week's Final; after being in the contest at 4-all at half-time, the u15s couldn't go on with it in the second half, failing to keep their season alive; and the u19s were eliminated in extra time after leading by 4 points with a minute to go. Meanwwile, our u21s, playing in the Cronulla comp, confirmed their place in the finals with a strong win over their 3rd placed rivals. They play the elimination Minor Semi-Final next week. We now have one team already in the Grand Final (the u11 Golds) in a fortnight's time.
