under 16s Premiers !!! Penshurst RSL has claimed the under 16s B grade title by defeating Kingsgrove Colts 28-8 in the Grand Final at WIN Jubilee Oval. The boys in green and gold dominated field position in the first half, which they were able to convert into a 16-0 half-time lead. Colts struck back after the break, reducing the lead to 16-8 as it seemed our boys were resting on their first half performance. Snapping out of their apathy, the u16s regained control of their game, posting 2 tries in the fourth quarter to close out the game. A dominant effort giving the boys their deserved title. Congratulations to all of the u16s players on a strong season and an inspirational finals campaign.Congrats also to coach Darren Campbell and his staff who have led the boys expertly to their first win in a Grand Final. Well done !!! Earlier in the day, our under 14s were not as successful in their attempt to win their title. The u14s started promisingly, scoring the first try of the game. Unfortunately, their chances headed southward as they quickly lost 2 of their key players. Despite hanging tough for the remainder of the half, our boys were down 6-22 at the break. The second stanza proved no happier for our boys as they were unable to resist the stronger, more powerful Earlwood Saints team - finally going down 10-52. Regardless of the finish to their season, the u14s have enjoyed a successful year, qualifying for the Grand Final with some stylish performances.
