Penshurst RSL Rugby League is deeply saddened at the loss of a prominent member of the St George junior rugby league community. Gordon Lowrie passed away last Monday morning, 8th June after an extended illness.
Gordon was a Life Member of Penshurst RSL rugby league club, the St George District Junior rugby league, St George District rugby league club and the NSW rugby league. He was Secretary of Penshurst RSL rugby league for 10 years and Secretary of the St George District Junior rugby league for 23 years. As a widely respected and admired administrator, Gordon was awarded the Order of Australia Medal in 2006 for his contribution to junior rugby league.
Penshurst RSL Rugby League wishes to express its deepest sympathies to Gordon's wife, Mavis, his children Marilyn and Colin and their families.
Gordon's funeral was held Friday 12th June 2009 at Woronora Crematorium South Chapel. Please be advised that the family has requested no flowers be sent, rather any donations to the Kids off the Street (Father Chris Riley Charity) would be greatly appreciated.
As a mark of respect to Gordon and his contribution to Penshurst RSL rugby league, all players will be wearing black arm bands this weekend. A minutes silence will also be held in his memory prior to games this weekend.
