Penshurst RSL Rugby League Club

Penshurst RSL now has 4 teams in the Grand Finals, after the u11 Golds and u15s won their respective Finals.

The under 11s Final was played between 2 Penshurst RSL teams - our u11 Greens and u11 Golds. In a dramatic and enthralling clash, the Golds were victorious 12-6. The game started with both teams testing each other out and the play rolling from end to end. The Greens crossed for a try midway through the half and held that score until half-time. The second half started like the first, and it was not until six minutes from full-time that the Golds leveled the score at 6-all. At that stage it look like we were heading for a replay. But then a super try : a cross kick to the winger to score in the corner with 2 minutes remaining, sealed the game for the Golds.

Congratulations to all the boys and to coach Kevin Hicks on a great result. To the Greens and coach Sean Saliba, unfortunately it wasn't to be, but in true Penshurst spirit they will be cheering on the Golds next weekend's Grand Final.

Our under 15s won through to their Grand Final in no less dramatic fashion, coming from behind to defeat Hurstville United 26-22. Under the pump for most of the game from a much larger opponent, our boys trailed 4-16 at half-time and 4-22 mdiway through the second half. But then the wheel slowly turned as our boys starting to compete better in the rucks, scoring a good team try to get a sniff at 10-22. Eventually, the boys in Green and Gold gained the momentum, piling on 3 unanswered tries in the final 10 minutes of the game - the match-winner scored with about a minute remaning.

Our u9s and u10s qualified for their Grand Finals by winnning their major-semi the previous week.
