Penshurst RSL's under 15s successfully defended their title with a convincing 30-8 win over Hurstville United. A strong defensive diplay and superior ball movement by our boys gave them the upper hand as they converted a 14-4 half-time lead into a 6 tries to 2 victory. Captain Dean Lockhart made up for missing last year's Grand Final with an outstanding effort that earned him the Man of the Match award.
Congratulations boys on an great effort and an excellent season. Your deserve your title.
To cap off the day, seven players from the Penshurst RSL under 15s were among St George's Harold Matthews cup squad who were presented to the crowd at half-time in the A-Grade Grand Final. Our vice-captain & fullback Thomas Patel was announced as captain of the squad. Congratulations, Thomas, and good luck to all of the boys in next weekend's tournament.
The Penshurst RSL Under 14s were valiant in defeat going down in a thriller to Riverwood Legion 26-20 at Kogarah Oval today. After jumping out to an early lead 10-0 and playing an enterprising brand of football, Riverwood put on three rapid fire tries to go in at the break 16-12 up. Penshurst started putting it together again very well late in the second half but it was too late for them to catch their opponents. The boys acquitted themselves very well and were a credit to themselves, their families and the club. Congratulations men, you should be very proud of your achievements!
