Penshurst RSL Rugby League’s 2004 season culminated last Saturday night at the Green and Gold presentation. Held in Penshurst RSL’s Auditorium, this year’s Green & Gold brought the entire club together to honour and reward the efforts of our players and officials. The highlight of the evening was the awarding of the club’s highest honour, the Kevin O'Brien "Obie" award, to long serving club official, Max “Slapsie” Simmons (pictured). A full list of winners for 2004 follows.
Penshurst RSL Junior Rugby League invites all of our players, officials and supporters to celebrate and reward the efforts of our players, from under 6s through to under 18s, at our annual Green and Gold presentation night. Details are…
Where: Penshurst RSL Auditorium
When: Saturday, 9th October, 2004
Start: 5.00pm Sharp
For our junior players, please note the change in date from Sunday 10th to Saturday 9th October.
Despite whole hearted performances from our under 9s and under 11s, neither team was quite able to overcome their opposition in their bids to qualify for their respective Grand Finals. Both teams were defeated by Earlwood Saints.
On Sunday, our last team standing, the under 16s, also failed to qualify for their Grand Final when defeated by Leichhardt Wanderers.
Penshurst RSL has 3 teams that are still alive in this year’s competitions – under 9s, 11s and 16s. This weekend, all 3 teams will be playing in the Final of their respective competition, attempting to qualify for their Grand Final.
Please come along and give your club mates your support. The 9s and 11s are both playing Earlwood Saints at Hurstville Oval on Saturday whilst the 16s travel to Birchgrove Oval to play Leichhardt Wanderers on Sunday.
Penshurst RSL’s under 16s resurrected their 2004 campaign with a convincing win in week 2 of the finals. In a much improved performance they defeated Earlwood Saints 36-12 after leading 16-2 at half time.
The 16s now join the 9s and the 11s in the penultimate round of the finals next weekend. All 3 of our teams will be competing for a spot in the Grand Final.
