The annual ANZAC march for Penshurst RSL is coming up! On Sunday 23 April , we will assemble in Austral Street near Penshurst Girls H.S at 1.30pm, with the march starting at 1.45pm (front of high school). We are asking players to come to the march dressed in their playing gear to represent us. The march continues to the club for a short service and wreath laying. The duration is about 30 minutes and drinks and chips are provided after. As the seniors play on Sunday we really rely on the juniors to represent our Club. Please help us by organising as many of your players as possible to honour the people who fought for, and in many cases gave their lives for us.
Penshurst RSL's Mini and Mod players travelled to fields throughout the St George district on Saturday for a game of footy, and they represented the club in tremendous fashion.
Highlights included strong wins for the under 11s and under 12s. Of particular note was the under 8s who lost their first game in 2 seasons, going down by 3 points to Hurstville United Blue. Heads up boys, footy is all about coming back from disappointment and working to improve your game the following week.
On Sunday, our international sides also travelled far and wide - the 13s visited the Balmain district (the first such visit for the 13s) to record a win over Leichhardt Wanderers and the 19s made their debut in the Souths competition at Marrickville Oval with a first up win against Marrickville.
The full fixtures for round two are now available with all of our teams having to travel to regions far and wide! Good luck to all of our teams.
The full list of games for round 3 to be played the weekend after Easter (April 22nd-23rd) is now available. Of our Mini and Mod teams, from under 6s through to under 10s are all at home at HV Evatt Park on Saturday, with only the under 11s having to travel - to Cahill Park. The under 12s have the Bye.
Our International teams are away, with the 16s and 18s the only teams at the same venue!
The opening round of matches for this year shows great promise for our club with some great performances on the field. Highlights were our under 8s picking up where they left off last year; strong first up wins for the under 12s, 13s and 14s; and the debut run for the under 19s in trials in the Souths competition.
A big thank you to everyone that helped over the 2 days at Evatt Park. Your assistance is greatly appreciated.
Next week all of our teams will have to travel. The draw will be published as soon as it is available.
The cricket pads have been packed away for another year, the swimming costume has been consigned to the bottom drawer - this can mean only one thing...the football season is about to begin. This week we welcome the players and their families back to HV Evatt Park for the opening round of competition for 2006.
For all but our under 6 Gold and under 19 teams, the season kicks off with a home game at our fabulous park and we would like to welcome all the new and returning families to our club. Please remember that all our workers are volunteers and could use a hand in the canteen or in any way possible. All funds raised are put back into the club and directly benefit our teams.
The full draw for this weekend follows.
