On Sunday April 23, a group of 16 children from Penshurst RSL Football Club, accompanied by Mr Graeme Hemopo took part in the annual ANZAC march and wreath laying ceremony at Penshurst RSL. The boys were representing the Penshurst RSL Youth Club. They displayed respect and dignity during the service and were a credit to their club and families. A number of people present commented on the boys’ manner and their presence at the service to remember those who had made the supreme sacrifice for our country. Lest we forget. After the washout of week 10's games last weekend, the games for week 11 will be played this coming weekend, 17th-18th June. Of note is the number of Penshurst RSL teams that have the Bye on Saturday. Enjoy the break, boys, before you continue with the second half of the season. On Sunday, we have 3 teams playing in consecutive games at Hurstville Oval, the 14s, 16s and 18s.
When word is received on the rescheduling of the week 10 games, an update will be posted on this page.
All games in the St George and Balmain districts have been cancelled this weekend due to ground closures caused by the wet weather.
We hope you have an enjoyable and safe long weekend!
Below are the tables for both the Junior and Senior Club Championships as at the completion of 9 weeks of competition.
For Penshurst RSL, this is a tremendous effort, especially in the Junior Championship where we are currently in second place, only 7.50 points off the lead. This is by far our most successful position for a number of years. In the Seniors, we are in 8th position - unfortunately our under 19s are not included because they are playing out of district.
This is a reflection of the efforts and performances of everyone in the club - players, coaches, team staff, club volunteers and families and supporters. Congratulations to everyone and keep up the good work. Go the Rissoles !!!
For the long weekend, we have a double header at Evatt Park again. All but our under 6 Golds and under 18s are at home. The under 19s do not play as the Souths comp has a break over this weekend.
Parents help in the canteen, on the BBQ, setting up and cleaning up the fields is needed to give our volunteers much needed support, and perhaps even a break !! This is our third double header in a row and your help is greatly appreciated.
Another double header at Evatt Park again saw some great football played by the boys in the Green and Gold, as well as their opponents - from under 6s through to under 18s.
On Saturday, in the Minis, the under 6 Greens showed some great form for a good win, the under 6 Golds went down narrowly away from home, the under 7s lent some players to the opposition for a run despite a forfeit and the under 8s won an absolute thriller.
In the Mod grades, the under 9 Greens had a strong win, the under 9 Golds battled bravely against a better opponent, the under 10 Greens' strong defence secured them the local derby against the under 10 Golds, the under 11s recorded another big win, as did the under 12s. The only International team to play on Saturday was the under 16s who travelled away to be out enthused by the team with whom they were previously sharing the competition lead.
On Sunday, the under 13s won a tight battle, the under 14s produced a big form reversal to upset the competition leaders (the best Penshurst RSL effort of the weekend), the under 18s displayed great defensive intensity to nearly upset the competition leaders and the under 19s retained a share of the competition lead with another strong victory.
