On a sunny winter's Saturday, the Green and Gold was represented throughout the St George district. The under 6 Gold won another tight contest, the under 6 Green went down narrowly, the under 7s weren't quite strong enough against a bigger opponent, the under 8s posted a good win, both the under 9s, Green and Gold, were rolled by bigger oppositions, the under 10 Gold fought valiantly against a top 3 team, the under 10 Green showed why they are sharing the competition lead, the under 11s dominated in their victory and the under 12s weren't good enough on the day.
And on a sunny Sunday of results, all of our International teams recorded victories...the u13s romped home, the u16s won a tight tussle, the u18s were always in control and the u19s led all the way. Well done to all teams, enjoy next weekend off before the run into the finals.
Competition tables after week 12's games...
The draw for week 13 has been published and sees all Penshurst RSL teams spread far and wide. If there is another Penshurst RSL team playing close to you, please, be sure to give them your support.
The Saturday results for week 12 mostly came from Evatt Park, where the fog eventually cleared for a beautiful sunny day.
Our u6 Gold went down in a tight thriller; the u6 Green were unable to hold out a bigger opponent; the u7s battled gamely against a stronger opponent; the u8s used their speed and width to great effect; the u9 Green were too good in the local derby over the u9 Gold (who looked fantastic in the new reverse coloured jerseys); the u10 Green won convincingly; the u10 Gold came home strongly after a slow start; the u11 lost the grand final replay in a great contest and the u12 overcame a player shortage to win a tight game on the bell.
On Sunday, our u13s hung on for a tight win after leading for most of the game; the u14s run of wins came to an end; the u16s lost to a late field goal; the u18s held on for an encouraging victory and the u19s were unable to overcome an ordinary first half.
Week 12 will be the games that were washed out for week 10 (over the long weekend). On Saturday, most of our Mini and Mod teams return to HV Evatt, whereas, the International teams are all on the road.
As usual, on the Saturday, the assistance of parents from all teams at Evatt Park is required in the canteen, on the BBQ and in the setting up and packing up of the field.
In Saturday's results, the u6 Greens recorded a strong win, the u6 Golds went down narrowly in an entertaining game, the u7s were not quite good enough on the day, the u9 Golds went down in a tight tussle, the u10 Greens won comfortably and, in the upset of the round, the u11s lost their undefeated tag.
The u8s, u9 Greens, u10 Golds and u12 all had the weekend off.
Of our International teams on Sunday, the u13s continued their winning ways and the u14s continued their surge of form with strong victories, the u16s won a tight contest and rousing comebacks by both the u18s and u19s fell tantalislingly short.
