A tough day at the office for our finalists resulted in five out of five teams competing in semi finals going down today. The brightest performance in an otherwise difficult day was our Under 19s securing the minor premiership in a tough South Sydney comp. Congratulations must go to the team and staff for their outstanding performance.
St George Junior League have issued the draw for next weeks finals matches where we have five teams looking to secure a spot in the 2006 Grand Finals. Our week kicks off with a Friday night clash with local rivals Renown United for the Under 16s and then continues at Hurstville Oval on Saturday. We are asking all club supporters to get on their green and gld and make it to the grounds for these important clashes.
Penshurst RSL's colours were worn with pride and distinction today as all of our Mod teams competed in the first round of finals. Though we lost 2 teams, all 6 Penshurst RSL teams played terrific football. Along with our remaining International teams, the surviving Mod teams will play in the second round of finals (Major and Minor Semis) tomorrow.
Please get along to support the Green and Gold with enthusiasm !!
Check below for the progress of Penshurst RSL teams in the first round of the finals, as well as the schedule of games for tomorrow (Sunday, 13th August), the second round of the finals.
On a bitterly cold Thursday night at Peakhurst Park our club had mixed results with the under 16s going through to the major semi final coming from behind to beat Brighton Seagulls 22-10, while our under 18s bowed out, losing to Holy Cross Maroon in extra time 22-16. While the 18s had their chances, they were valiant in defeat capping a mixed season which consisted of some very high highs and equally difficult lows. A highlight of this, or any other season, was their stunning 8-0 victory over Hurstville United, but it seems that the long break due to the recent inclement weather seems to have slowed their momentum. Irrespective the boys made the large green and gold contingent at the game very proud.
We have been informed that all international games deferred from last weekend will be played mid-week. The Mod games will be played Saturday. All of week 02 Finals games will be played on the Sunday.
