Penshurst RSL's u19s and u21s opened week 08, playing locally on Friday night. After leading 16-0 late in the first half, the u19s put the cue (& their enthusiasm) in the rack to struggle to a 20-14 victory. At the same time not far away, the u21s were involved in a very tight battle with one of the undefeated competition leaders. Down 10-12 with only minutes remaining, we were held up over the line in a vain push for victory.
On Saturday at HV Evatt Park, the u6 Gold played with enthusiasm, the u9s came from behind to grab a late win over the competition leaders, the u10 Gold recorded another strong win, the u10 Green defended strongly throughout but just failed to cross the stripe and the u11 Green won comfortably. Meanwhile, at Cahill Park, both the u6 Greens and the u7s posted solid wins, the u8s went down narrowly, the u11 Gold won a nail-biter and the u12s continued their winning ways.
On Sunday, the u14s recorded their first victory of the season (congratulations boys, now we'll have to stop calling Paul 'Chris Anderson'), the u15s finally succumbed in the end after a tight battle and the u17s lost a closely fought contest with the undefeated competition leaders.
