Penshurst RSL Rugby League Club (2)

Inner City Challenge

on .

On Saturday 15th September, 5 members of the Penshurst RSL under 21s team - Mohu Hala, Troy Millican, Shane Burgess, Josh Baihn and Ibrahim Dadouk - were part of a St George Selection side that competed in the Inner City Challenge tournament at Mascot Oval. Playing sides from Balmain, Manly and Souths, the boys came away from the challenge having done our club proud.

A representative side, consisting of players from the St George, Balmain and South Sydney districts, was selected to play against the Melbourne Academy team prior to Sunday's Grand Final Qualifier between the Melbourne Storm and the Paramatta Eels at the Telstra Dome. Congratulations go to Mohu Hala who, after an outstanding tournament, was selected in the side. We wish Mo the best of luck in flying the "Green and Gold" of Penshurst RSL on Sunday.

NB: Feedback has been received by the club that Mohu Hala was an outstanding representative for Penshurst RSL on the Melbourne tour. Mo's performance, both on and off the field, was rewarded with a try in the game against Melbourne Academy (which was won 56-18 by the Academy side).

Club Meeting - Wed 12th September

on .

Our final monthly club meeting of the year will be held Wednesday 12th September at 7:30pm in the Legends Lounge of Penshurst RSL.

It is important that at least 1 representative from each team attend this meeting as we finalise preparations for the end of season, which is fast approaching.

Tommy Bishop Shield - Sunday 9th Sept

on .

Best wishes to our under 7s who will be one of 3 teams representing the St George district in the Tommy Bishop Shield this Sunday, 9th September, at Toyota Park and surrounding fields. The Tommy Bishop Shield is an end-of-season round-robin tournament conducted by the Cronulla-Sutherland junior league for under 7s teams from many districts.

So near but yet, so far...

on .

The successful season of Penshurst RSL's under 19s came to an agonisingly disappointing end when they fell 4 points short in their Grand Final. As Minor Premiers and winners of the Major Semi, hopes were high of a win, despite the absence of a couple of key players due to injury.

Unfortunately, our boys conceded a 0-22 deficit in the first 20 minutes of the game, which they weren't quite able to overhaul. In front a very large crowd, which included a sea of Green and Gold supporters, the u19s fought back with the spirit and determination, for which they are famed, against much bigger opponents before going down 18-22. Congratulations to coach Peter Mannering, his players and staff on a tremendous season.

When speaking of the Champions...our under 15s

on .

Congratulations to our under 15s on their 28-4 victory over North Ryde in the 15(ii)s Grand Final at Leichhardt Oval. From the moment that captain and Man-of-the-Match Matt Hartney scored in the second minute of the game, Penshurst RSL lead throughout the game.

A thoroughly deserved victory for our boys. Congratulations to coach Matt Stuiber and his staff on a job well done.
