Penshurst RSL Under 10 Greens have become back to back premiers knocking over highly fancied opponents, Kogarah Cougars 25-12 in the U/10 Division 1 grand final at OKI Jubilee Oval today. Led from the front by Kane Campbell, who scored a try in both halves, the team put on a clinical display in the first half to lead 20-0 relegating Kogarah, who finished the season as minor premiers, to being mere spectators.
In the forwards, Mark Attaya had a sensational game in both attack and defence and was ably assisted by official man of the match, Matt Dufty. That aside, it was truly a great team performance and it is hard to single out players other than to say they all deserve to bask in the glow of their victory. The team performed to the best of their ability and the large Green and Gold contingent at the ground were treated to a high quality game of rugby league. Congratulations to the team staff and parents, but most of all to the boys who displayed tenacity and grit to successfully defend their title.
As the old saying goes, it's much harder to defend a title than it is to win one, and our Under 10s can sleep well tonight knowing that they have achieved both against high quality opposition.
Penshurst RSL take to the field tomorrow with out U/19s playing in a major semi final at Redfern Oval tomorrow at 11:30am, while our U/16s play in the Division 2 Grand Final at Leichhardt Oval at 2:20pm. Try and get along to help lift our boys to victory.
