On a bitterly cold Thursday night at Peakhurst Park our club had mixed results with the under 16s going through to the major semi final coming from behind to beat Brighton Seagulls 22-10, while our under 18s bowed out, losing to Holy Cross Maroon in extra time 22-16. While the 18s had their chances, they were valiant in defeat capping a mixed season which consisted of some very high highs and equally difficult lows. A highlight of this, or any other season, was their stunning 8-0 victory over Hurstville United, but it seems that the long break due to the recent inclement weather seems to have slowed their momentum. Irrespective the boys made the large green and gold contingent at the game very proud.
The under 16s also appeared pretty rusty, with dropped ball and unforced errors the order of the day on the first half of the curtain raiser. A tough half-time talk and blowing out the cobwebs saw the boys come home with a wet sail, piling on late points and outlasting a tough and worthy opponent. The Under 16s will be playing in the major semi final on Sunday at Birchgrove Oval at 2:40pm against minor premiers, the North Ryde Hawks.
