Penshurst RSL Rugby League is in mourning for the tragic loss of one of its own. Mitchell Wykes passed away suddenly last Sunday afternoon, 31st July. Mitchell was only 23 years of age.
Mitchell was a former Penshurst RSL Rugby League player of many years service who was very well regarded and liked by all of those that knew him. He was also a member of a very popular and highly regarded Penshurst RSL family - his parents Jenny and Chris (better known as Gus) have contributed many selfless hours to the club and its players, and his brother, Jordan, is also a former player of many years.
Penshurst RSL Rugby League wishes to express its deepest sympathies to Jenny, Gus and Jordan. Our thoughts are with you throughout this most difficult time.
Mitchell's funeral was held Saturday, 6th August, in the South Chapel of Woronora Crematorium. |

Congratulations and our thanks must go to our Social Secretary Katrina Russell and the team from Crush Productions, Kellie & Calvin Koch for their efforts in organising and running a fantastic night for us. The prize for best dressed couple went to Glen & Leonie Dufty, while the best hairdo, in a controversial decision, went to our President, Ken Harris! Again thanks to all of those who helped and attended as all funds raised from our events go back to our boys and running the club. |

Penshurst RSL Rugby League is also deeply saddened at the loss of another member of the St George rugby league community. Robert Stone passed away last Monday morning, 1st August after an extended illness. Robert was 49 years of age.
Though probably better known from his playing days with St George in the 70s and 80s, Robert was prominent in recent years in the administration of of rugby league in the St George district. As Executive Officer of the St George Football Club he was heavily involved in the development and welfare of junior rugby league and its players.
Penshurst RSL Rugby League wishes to express its deepest sympathies to Robert's wife, Anne, and his children, Melissa, Belinda and Michael. Robert's funeral will be held at 12 noon Wednesday, August 3 at St John Bosco Church, Engadine followed at 1.30pm by a service at the Woronora Crematorium. |

Due to popular demand there are now nearly 60 new pics from 2005 in the photo gallery thanks to the work of CJ and Darren Campbell! There are some great action shots from the mini and mod teams, as well as some familiar old, and I do mean old, faces. Check it out here. |

Penshurst RSL Rugby League would like to thank Macquarie Bank Sports for the Kids to Kangaroos Clinic which was held on Wednesday 13th July 2005. It gave us the opportunity for three of our players, Thomas Kennedy, Matt Dufty and Benny Murphin to attend a coaching clinic with NRL stars Brad Fittler, Gorden Tallis, Amos Roberts, Michael Crocker and the favourite of the day, Nathan Hindmarsh, who was absolutely fantastic with the kids! |
